Two agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have been killed while serving warrant in Sunrise City, Florida. Three people were injured in this incident. The attacker later committed suicide.
The incident happened Tuesday morning at an apartment complex called Water Terrace in Sunrise City.
The two FBI agents is Daniel Alfin (38) and Laura Schwarzenegger (43) killed in Florida.
The injured were taken to FBI Hospital. Their condition has been reported to be stable.
He committed suicide before arresting the suspected assailant. His name was not disclosed.
It has been described in the US media as one of the most horrific incidents in FBI history.
Members of law enforcement, including FBI agents, went to the scene to search for a federal court’s ‘search warrant’ for child sexual abuse.
The suspected assailant, sensing the presence of law enforcement, locked himself inside. When they tried to arrest him, he opened fire on law enforcement officers, including FBI agents. It caused casualties.
Panic erupted in the city yesterday morning over such shootings.
Following the incident, law enforcement forces cordoned off the area. Traffic was stopped on all the surrounding roads. Security was tightened and locals were barred from leaving their homes. The situation in the area became normal around noon.
FBI Director Christopher A. Wray issued a statement on the incident. He called the slain FBI agents “national heroes.”
“Every day, FBI agents risk their lives for the country and the nation,” said Christopher Ray. The sacrifices made by these heroes for the nation today will be remembered with reverence forever.
Acting U.S. Attorney General Monty Wilkinson has expressed grief over the incident. He expressed deep sympathy to the victims.
