Hyundai Motor and Apple Inc. are planning to enter into a partnership agreement to build an automatic electric car in March.
These two company goal is to produce automatic cars in the United States by 2024. This information was given in a report of Korea IT News on Sunday.
Hyundai Motor said in a statement last Friday that it had held preliminary discussions with Apple on automated car technology.
After their statement, another local media outlet said that Hyundai and Apple have set a goal to make self-driving electric cars by 2027. Hyundai’s share price rose 20 percent in the news.
According to Reuters, Hyundai and Apple are planning to build electric cars at the Kia Motors plant in Georgia, citing sources in the automobile industry.
Apart from this, they may also plan to build new factories in the United States.
Their goal is to make 100,000 cars in the proposed factory by 2024. The factory has the capacity to make more than 400,000 cars annually. Kia Motors is a subsidiary of Hyundai.
According to reports in the Korean media, Apple and Hyundai may release a beta or trial version of the Apple car next year.
However, Apple and Hyundai have not officially commented on the matter.
A Reuters report last month said Apple was advancing automated car technology. They are moving forward with the goal of building passenger cars so that innovative battery technology can be seen before 2024.
