Nine patient kills in a fire after an oxygen ventilator explosion at Covid-19 hospital in southern Turkey. It’s Sanko University Hospital in Turkey’s Gaziantep region.
According to the BBC and Reuters, the Turkey governor’s office said the fire broke out after an explosion at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sanko University Covid-19 Hospital in the Gaziantep area.
One patient died of coronavirus infection while being taken to another hospital. This hospital’s Covid-19 infected patients transfer to another hospital.
A total of nine people have been killed in the blasts and fires, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has said. The hospital said in a statement that the dead ranged in age from 56 to 85.
An investigation is underway to find out how the blast occurred. The blast occurred Saturday morning, local time. It is possible to put out the fire in a short time.
The governor’s office in Gaziantep said those being treated in the ward had been taken to another nearby hospital.
