Police have arrested a man named Wayne Tap (57) in New York to try charges of Voter ballot fraud attempt. Wayne Tap a resident of Long Island was arrested on October 16.
Wayne Tap a resident of Long Island applied for a two-point ballot from the election office in advance for his deceased mother, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
He made these two applications on September 4 and October 6. He also applied for two separate ballots in March and September.
The investigation began when the Suffolk County Board of Election applications were sent to the District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation found that Wayne Tap’s mother died last June. He forged his mother’s signature. He was later arrested on October 16 on charges.
Wayne Tap could face one to four years in prison. Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Cini said voting is the foundation of democracy. No fraud will be tolerated.
The District Attorney’s Office of New York is committed to investigating any allegations of voter fraud and bringing those involved to justice.
