UEFA vice-president Fernando Gomez says governing bodies should reject the proposed European Super League. He has taken a stand against La Liga president Javier Tevez.
As the days go by, the opposition is coming up with the proposed European Super League. Veteran coach Arsene Wenger sees this as a threat to the Premier League.
According to a report, last week the $ 6 billion package has been formed to host the new league. 18 clubs from the top five leagues in Europe will take part in the glittering tournament. The project has already been backed by two of England’s top clubs, Liverpool and Manchester United, the report said.
The outgoing president of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu said the Catalan team had begun the process of joining the proposed league.
However, Gomez sees this as a violation of the rules of football. In an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, he sharply criticized the proposed tournament.
“It violates all the rules of the game. I don’t support it because football is facing its biggest challenge now. I think all football organizations should clearly boycott it. ”
