For the past few weeks, Syrian government forces have been waging widespread war with Russian military support to regain Idlib province. Idlib is the latest base for Bashar Assad rebels inside Syria. There are several Turkey-backed Syrian rebels, jihadists, and al-Qaeda affiliated groups. The reason the situation is getting complicated is that Turkey is an important member of the US-led military coalition. On the other hand, Russia is another ally of Syria’s Bashar Assad regime. So if Turkey is attacked, then the fears are mounting whether the powers of Idlib are involved in the war. The European Union’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, said Syria was at increased risk of a major international military conflict.
It is reported that the airstrike was carried out after the anti-Assad forces seized a city called Saraqib in Idlib province. There, Turkish soldiers are said to be fighting alongside jihadist fighters, though Turkey is denying it. “33 of our soldiers were martyred in the airstrike by Assad’s forces,” said Rahimi Dogan, the governor of Turkey’s Houthi province.
Although he says the Syrian forces -for the most part, these airstrikes are carried out by the Russian forces in Bashar Assad’s ally. But Russia says Russian forces were not fighting in that area called Balun.

The Russian Defense Ministry says one of the “bombers” was killed while Turkish troops were fighting with the “terrorists” in their language in the Balun area. Here the al-Sham faction of the Hayat Tahiri, or former al-Nusra fighters – was attacking Syrian government forces. Russia says it has always been in contact with Turkey so that Idlib will not be attacked by Turkish troops. But they were not told that the Turkish troops were active in the Balun area. Russia says their aircraft was not conducting any attack in that area.
Turkey also announced that the international community had not taken any action in the wake of the Syrian forces’ strike against Turkish troops, adding that Turkey would no longer be barred from entering Europe. The border has been crossed after the announcement of the opening of the border More than 18 thousand immigrants. The number is expected to double in a few days. Many even tried to cross the border into Greece. There are 3.7 million refugees in Turkey’s refuge from war-torn Syria. The EU accuses Turkey of not agreeing to the deal despite the agreement to prevent these refugees from entering Europe.
However, Greece has warned of a drastic step in preventing the entry of refugees into Europe as the border opens. Meanwhile, police and military personnel have been deployed along with the coast guard. The border guard with Turkey has also been strengthened. Authorities throw tear gas to prevent them from crossing the Ivoros River in small boats as they try to reach the coast of Greece.
