Kurdish rebels have left the northern Syrian border town of Ras al-Ain in the face of Turkish military operations. Syrian Kurds have urged Israel to take military action against Turkey.
Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said the fighters were withdrawn according to a US-mediated ceasefire agreement.
They say the control of the city has been handed over to Turkish forces and its allies after they leave the city. The rebels left the city on Sunday afternoon, according to a Turkish-US agreement. Ankara also confirmed that the Kurdish rebels had left the city.
The Kurdish SDF rebels left the city on Saturday afternoon with a 86 vehicles, according to a statement by the Turkish Defense Ministry. Turkish forces and their backed Syrian rebels have surrounded the city for nearly four years. Turkey took control of the border town of Ras al-Qin early in the military operation against Kurdish YPG fighters.
Meanwhile, Syrian Kurds have urged Israel to take military action against Turkey. A spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) confirmed the news to Israel’s leading news media, The Times of Israel.
